East Rand Meat Mecca opened its doors for business in 1987 as a small local butchery in the heart of Springs. From day one the aim was to be of service to our customers by providing a clean and safe environment to purchase the freshest and most honest of products at the most affordable prices.
Throughout the years we have built our trust amongst our community to ultimately become a household name, never wavering from our initial focus of quality and value.
This expansion opened so many doors of opportunity and lead to the transition from a butchery to a complete grocery store that provide fresh fruit and vegetables, basic groceries as well as our most recent addition of an in-house restaurant called Mecca Café. All in the spirit of maintaining our initial aim of adding value and being of service to our customers.
In 2002 ownership changed hands to Henk van Staden who worked for Meat Mecca for 25 years prior as a butcher and manager.
He purchased the business alongside his wife Debbie and systematically grew the business to the point where the existing butchery proved to be restrictive in size and so, a new much larger premise was built adjacent to the old store.
At Meat Mecca we pride ourselves in producing all our products in-house using only the finest and freshest ingredients. Products range from various sausages, our traditional Meat Mecca Boerewors, various cold meats and our delicious smoked product range with our famously known Beechwood Smoked Cheese Wors standing proud as our flagship and customer favourite.
Cleanliness and hygiene is our biggest priority. We also ask our health and safety officer for regular visits to ensure our high standard of hygiene is kept as well as to stay up to date with the latest information and improvements regarding health and safety.
At Meat Mecca every customer is appreciated and greatly valued. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve our community for more than three decades, and we cannot wait to continue and improve upon this legacy for many more years to come.
